Wk 10 Day 2: Receiving God's Love

Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 13:4–7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Reflection

When John says "God is love," he isn't describing something God does—he's describing who God is. His love is patient, kind, faithful, forgiving, and enduring. The challenge is that many of us struggle to receive God's love because we carry wounds from past relationships into our relationship with Him.

Before you can love others well, allow yourself to rest in the truth that you are fully loved by God.

Reflection Questions

  • What experiences have shaped the way I think about love?

  • Do I trust God's love, or do I keep Him at a distance?

  • Which characteristic of God's love do I need most today?

  • What would change if I truly believed I am deeply loved?

Prayer

Lord, heal the places in my heart that make it difficult to receive Your love. Replace fear with trust and shame with confidence in Your grace. Teach me to rest in the truth that nothing can separate me from Your love. Amen.

Wk 10 Day 1: Learning to See God

Scripture Reading

1 John 4:12–15
12
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.

Reflection

We often look for God in dramatic moments—a miracle, an answered prayer, or a mountaintop experience. But John reminds us that God is often seen in ordinary moments of love. Every act of forgiveness, compassion, generosity, and sacrifice becomes evidence of His presence.

This week, begin paying attention to where God is already at work around you. You may discover that He has been closer than you realized.

Reflection Questions

  • Where have I been expecting to see God?

  • Have I overlooked His presence in ordinary moments?

  • Who has reflected God's love to me recently?

  • How might God want to reveal Himself through me today?

Prayer

Father, open my eyes to see You in the ordinary moments of life. Help me recognize Your presence in creation, in relationships, and in simple acts of love. Let my life become a place where others can catch a glimpse of You. Amen.
