Scripture Reading
1 John 2:20-23
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.[e] 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
John 14:26
26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Reflection
John reminds believers that they have received an anointing from the Holy Spirit and therefore have access to discernment. The Holy Spirit guides us into truth and helps us recognize what is from God and what is not.
Discernment is not reserved for pastors, theologians, or church leaders. It is available to every believer who seeks God.
Too often we ask, "What do I want?" before asking, "Lord, is this from You?"
Today, slow down and invite the Holy Spirit to sharpen your discernment.
Reflection Questions
When making decisions, do I intentionally seek God's wisdom?
Have I been ignoring convictions from the Holy Spirit?
Where do I need greater discernment in my life right now?
Am I willing to follow God's leading even when it challenges my preferences?
Prayer
Holy Spirit, thank You for dwelling within me. Awaken my spiritual discernment and help me recognize truth from error. Give me wisdom to navigate the decisions, opportunities, and challenges before me. Teach me to trust Your guidance above my own understanding. Amen.
