Scripture Reading
1 John 2:18-19
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
Ephesians 4:14
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.
Reflection
John lived with an urgency that every believer should embrace. Not fear, but readiness. He knew that deception would increase and that many voices would compete for people's attention. The danger wasn't merely persecution from outside the church—it was false teaching from within.
An unanchored life will eventually drift wherever the current takes it. But a believer anchored in Christ and His Word can remain steady even when confusion surrounds them.
Today, consider what has been influencing your thinking and shaping your beliefs.
Reflection Questions
What voices have the greatest influence on my life right now?
Am I spending more time consuming opinions than Scripture?
Where have I become spiritually complacent?
What would it look like to become more deeply anchored in Christ?
Prayer
Father, help me remain grounded in Your truth. Protect me from deception and confusion. Give me a hunger for Your Word and a desire to know Jesus more deeply. Keep my heart anchored in You when competing voices try to pull me away. Amen.
