Scripture Reading
Psalm 119:37
Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
preserve my life according to your word.[a]
Hebrews 12:2
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Reflection
John warns about the "lust of the eyes"—the tendency to be consumed by what we see and what we want.
We live in a world of endless scrolling, endless comparison, and endless distraction. What captures our attention eventually shapes our desires.
Today, pay attention to what is feeding your soul. Are your eyes drawing you closer to Christ or slowly pulling your attention away from Him?
Reflection Questions
What has been consuming most of my attention lately?
Are my eyes feeding my soul or starving it?
Have entertainment, social media, or comparison crowded out time with God?
What practical step can I take to fix my eyes more intentionally on Jesus?
Prayer
Jesus, help me guard my eyes and my heart. Reveal the distractions that are stealing my attention and affection. Teach me to fix my eyes on You and find satisfaction in Your presence instead of the endless noise around me. Amen.
