Wk 9 Day 4: Love Made Visible

Scripture Reading

1 John 4:9–10
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Romans 5:8

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Reflection

God did not merely tell us He loves us. He showed us. His love was made visible through Jesus Christ. The cross is the clearest definition of love.

Love is not simply a feeling, romance, or kindness. Love is God sending His Son to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. Jesus came to live the life we could not live, die the death we deserved, and bring us into life with God.

The cross proves that the Father is not against us. He is for us.

Reflection Questions

  • When I think about the cross, do I see the love of the Father clearly?

  • Have I struggled to believe that God is truly for me?

  • How does Jesus redefine what love really means?

  • What does sacrificial love look like in my life right now?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for making the love of God visible. Thank You for giving Your life for me. Father, thank You for sending Your Son so that I might live through Him. Help me never reduce love to a feeling, but teach me to love with sacrifice, mercy, and action. Amen.

Wk 9 Day 3: God Is Love

Scripture Reading

1 John 4:8
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Romans 8:38–39
38
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Reflection

John does not simply say that God is loving. He says God is love. Love is not just something God does; love is who God is. His love is not temporary, inconsistent, or dependent on our performance.

Unlike us, God does not stop loving when He is disappointed, angry, or correcting us. Even His discipline flows from love. His love is steady, holy, perfect, and eternal.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Reflection Questions

  • Do I believe God’s love for me is steady, even when I fail?

  • Have I confused God’s discipline with rejection?

  • What false view of God’s love do I need to surrender?

  • How does Romans 8:38–39 strengthen my confidence in God?

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your love is not fragile like mine. Thank You that nothing can separate me from Your love in Christ Jesus. Heal any distorted view I have of You and help me trust that Your love is constant, holy, and good. Amen.

Wk 9 Day 2: Knowing God Through Love

Scripture Reading

1 John 4:7–8
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Ezekiel 36:26
26
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.[a]

Reflection

John teaches that love is one of the clearest evidences that someone has truly experienced God. This does not mean Christians love perfectly, but it does mean that God’s love begins to transform us over time.

To “know God” is more than knowing facts about Him. It means experiencing Him personally. When we truly encounter God’s love, it changes how we relate to people. A heart of stone becomes a heart of flesh.

Reflection Questions

  • Do I merely know about God’s love, or have I personally experienced it?

  • Is God’s love changing the way I treat people?

  • Where do I still have a hard heart toward someone?

  • What would it look like for God to make my heart more tender?

Prayer

Lord, I do not want to only know facts about You. I want to know You personally and deeply. Let Your love transform my heart. Remove anything hard, bitter, or resistant in me, and give me a heart that reflects Your compassion toward others. Amen.

Wk 9 Day 1: You Are Beloved

Scripture Reading

1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

Reflection

John does not simply say, “Love one another.” He begins with identity: Beloved. In other words, “You who are loved, let us love.” Before God calls us to give love, He reminds us that we have received love.

Christian love does not begin with willpower. It begins with experiencing the love of God. We cannot manufacture Christlike love on our own. We love because God has first loved us.

Reflection Questions

  • Do I see myself first as someone who is deeply loved by God?

  • Am I trying to love others out of my own strength?

  • How has God shown His love to me personally?

  • Who needs to experience the love of God through me this week?

Prayer

Father, thank You for calling me beloved. Help me receive Your love deeply before I try to give love to others. Remind me that I am not loved because I have earned it, but because You are gracious, merciful, and kind. Let Your love fill me and flow through me today. Amen.
