Scripture Reading
1 John 4:7
7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
Reflection
John does not simply say, “Love one another.” He begins with identity: Beloved. In other words, “You who are loved, let us love.” Before God calls us to give love, He reminds us that we have received love.
Christian love does not begin with willpower. It begins with experiencing the love of God. We cannot manufacture Christlike love on our own. We love because God has first loved us.
Reflection Questions
Do I see myself first as someone who is deeply loved by God?
Am I trying to love others out of my own strength?
How has God shown His love to me personally?
Who needs to experience the love of God through me this week?
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling me beloved. Help me receive Your love deeply before I try to give love to others. Remind me that I am not loved because I have earned it, but because You are gracious, merciful, and kind. Let Your love fill me and flow through me today. Amen.
