Scripture Reading

1 John 4:9–10
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Romans 5:8

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Reflection

God did not merely tell us He loves us. He showed us. His love was made visible through Jesus Christ. The cross is the clearest definition of love.

Love is not simply a feeling, romance, or kindness. Love is God sending His Son to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. Jesus came to live the life we could not live, die the death we deserved, and bring us into life with God.

The cross proves that the Father is not against us. He is for us.

Reflection Questions

  • When I think about the cross, do I see the love of the Father clearly?

  • Have I struggled to believe that God is truly for me?

  • How does Jesus redefine what love really means?

  • What does sacrificial love look like in my life right now?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for making the love of God visible. Thank You for giving Your life for me. Father, thank You for sending Your Son so that I might live through Him. Help me never reduce love to a feeling, but teach me to love with sacrifice, mercy, and action. Amen.
