Scripture Reading
1 John 3:19–20
19 Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. 20 Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.
Romans 8:1
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Reflection
After challenging us to love, John offers comfort for those who struggle with assurance. Some believers live under a constant sense of guilt and condemnation. They see their failures more clearly than God's grace.
John reminds us that God knows the whole story. He sees our weaknesses, but He also sees His Spirit at work within us. If you grieve over sin, desire to love others, and long to follow Christ, those are signs of God's grace in your life.
Reflection Questions
Do I tend to live under guilt and self-condemnation?
Am I trusting God's grace more than my feelings?
Where have I forgotten that God is greater than my heart?
What evidence of God's work can I thank Him for today?
Prayer
Father, thank You that Your grace is greater than my failures. When my heart condemns me, help me remember that You know me completely and love me fully. Teach me to rest in Your mercy and trust in Your promises. Amen.
