Scripture Reading

1 John 2:28-29
28
And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

Matthew 24:42
42
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

Reflection

John's final encouragement is to remain in Christ so that when He returns, we can stand before Him with confidence and not shrink back in shame.

Living with eternity in view changes how we live today.

The question is not whether Jesus will return. The question is whether we are living each day in a way that reflects our love for Him.

The goal is not fear. The goal is faithfulness.

As you finish this week's exercise, consider what it means to live each day with confidence, purpose, and readiness.

Reflection Questions

  • If Jesus returned today, what would I want Him to find me doing?

  • Am I living with an eternal perspective or a temporary one?

  • What area of my life needs greater surrender?

  • What does faithfulness look like for me in this season?

Prayer

Father, help me live each day with my eyes fixed on Jesus. Keep me faithful, alert, and steadfast in my walk with You. Teach me to value what is eternal and to remain confident in Your promises. May my life bring glory to You as I wait for Christ's return. Amen.
